Sarah Benham was born in New Orleans and grew up in central rural Mississippi. She graduated from the University of Mississippi and lived and taught school in New Orleans before moving to New England. She studied photography with John Loengard, Arnold Newman, Judy Dater, Eugene Richards, George Tice and Deborah Turbeville. Her photographs are in major museum collections as well as numerous private collections. She studied painting with George Dureau, David Loeffler Smith and John Borowicz. Sarah lives and works in South Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
